1. Philosophy: your data stays local
Monitor Flows is a desktop application designed with a privacy-by-design philosophy. All your data — widget configurations, layouts, preferences, third-party service credentials (IMAP email, GitHub, Home Assistant) — are stored exclusively on your local machine. We do not own or operate servers that collect your personal data.
2. Data we collect
When you create an Monitor Flows account (optional, only required for Pro and Max plans), we collect your email address and first name. This information is used solely for license management and customer support. We never sell, rent, or share this data with third parties.
3. Telemetry data
Monitor Flows may collect anonymized and aggregated telemetry data to improve the application: OS version, app version, number of active widgets, and anonymous crash reports. This telemetry is entirely optional and can be disabled in the application settings. No personally identifiable information is included.
4. Third-party integrations
Some widgets (Email, GitHub, Home Assistant, Twitch) connect directly to third-party services from your machine. Monitor Flows acts as a local client — your credentials never pass through our servers. We recommend reviewing the privacy policies of these third-party services to understand how they handle your data.
5. Local storage and security
API tokens, email passwords, and other sensitive data are encrypted locally using operating system protection mechanisms (DPAPI on Windows). Layout backups and export files do not contain authentication data.
6. Cookies and web tracking
Our website (monitorflows.com) uses essential cookies for site functionality and session management. We do not use advertising cookies or third-party trackers. No third-party analytics tools are used on our website.
7. User rights
In accordance with GDPR and applicable laws, you have the right to access, rectify, and delete your personal data. To exercise these rights, contact us at privacy@monitorflows.com. Deleting your account results in the permanent removal of all your data from our systems within 30 days.
8. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy periodically. Significant changes will be communicated via an in-app notification and on our website. Continued use of the application after changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
